Join us for a fun-filled Octoberfest and Halloween celebration with our elders! We’ll gather at the LBFE office on Thursday, October 15th from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM. Volunteers will help get elders to and from the office, serve food, and enjoy festive activities with our community. Costumes are welcome (and encouraged)!

As a Third Thursday Cook, you'll play a pivotal role in preparing a delicious meal that forms the heart of our program.

Our menu operates potluck-style, where volunteers sign up to prepare one dish, contributing to a complete and satisfying meal. Join Us for Third Thursdays - Help Build Connections!

Every third Thursday, join us in combating loneliness and fostering community at our special event for elderly friends. Third Thursdays offer a warm, inviting space where seniors can come together over a delicious meal and meaningful conversations. To ensure this event thrives, we're seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with setup.

As a setup volunteer, you'll play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere. Tasks include arranging tables and chairs, setting out tablecloths, place mats, and silverware, placing beautiful floral arrangements on each table, and ensuring all necessary condiments are readily available. Your attention to detail and caring touch will help transform our space into a haven of warmth and connection for our elderly friends.

Join us for Movie Night with a Friend!

Experience the joy of giving back by escorting an elderly friend to our monthly movie night at LBFE. As a volunteer, you'll pick up your elderly friend and ensure they arrive by 6:00 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. movie start. After the film, share your thoughts and enjoy a friendly chat on the way home. Whether you stay or drop off, your time and companionship make a meaningful difference. Come make memories and connections that last a lifetime!

Plus, all transporting volunteers are covered under LBFE's umbrella insurance policy for peace of mind.

This Halloween, join us in spreading festive cheer by delivering a special "trick or treat" to our homebound elderly friends. Your visit will bring joy and excitement to their day, making them feel connected and cared for.

By participating in this fun and meaningful event, you will create memorable moments for our elderly friends who may not be able to experience Halloween festivities otherwise. Your visit and the treats you deliver will bring the inner kid and will be a delightful reminder that they are not alone.

Discover Creativity at Art Group with a Friend!

Unleash the power of art and friendship by volunteering to drive an elderly friend to our monthly Art Group at LBFE. Every first Tuesday of the month, you'll help them immerse themselves in creativity, camaraderie, and community.

Whether you prefer to drop off and pick up or stay and participate, your support means the world. And rest assured, all transporting volunteers are protected under LBFE's umbrella insurance policy. Join us in fostering joy and connection through art—where every stroke of kindness paints a brighter picture for all.

Annual Memorial Gathering

On Wednesday, November 5th from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, we will gather at the LBFE office to honor and remember our cherished friends who have passed away over the last year. This is a meaningful time of reflection and community as we celebrate their lives and the joy they brought to all of us.

Volunteers are invited to help with getting individuals to and from the office, greeting guests, and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for this important day of remembrance.

This Thanksgiving, help bring warmth and happiness to our elderly friends by delivering a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th. Your kindness and generosity will ensure that they are not alone and have a special and memorable holiday. 

Meals can be picked up anytime between 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the LBFE office located at 5530 Colerain Ave. Cinci, OH 45239. 

By participating in this meaningful event, you will provide a delicious meal and companionship to those who may otherwise spend the holiday alone. Your visit and the meal you deliver will be a heartfelt reminder that they are cherished and remembered.

Ensure our elderly friends can attend the Christmas party by providing them with transportation to and from the event. Your kindness will make their holiday special and provide an opportunity they may not otherwise have.

Volunteers will drive elderly guests to the party and take them back home afterward. Volunteers are not required to stay but are welcomed.

Pickup times are arranged individually between the volunteer and elderly friend once LBFE assigns volunteers to a route, (typically between 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) and return trips after 2:00 PM.

Your support will ensure our elderly friends can enjoy the festivities without worrying about transportation.

Join us in serving a delicious holiday meal to our elderly friends at the Christmas Eve party. Your friendly service will make the meal even more enjoyable.

Servers will serve food and beverages to attendees and ensure everyone is well taken care of. The meal will consist of an appetizer, an entree, and dessert. Each meal is plated and served separately. As attendees finish their meals, volunteers will take all dishes back to the kitchen. 

Your participation will bring smiles and satisfaction to our guests as they enjoy a festive feast.

Holiday Gift Wrapping

Help us spread holiday cheer by wrapping gifts for our elders! Join us on Friday, December 12th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the LBFE office. Volunteers will assist with wrapping, organizing, and preparing gifts that will be delivered during the holiday season.

No experience needed but we do ask that you bring any extra gift wrapping supplies you may have.

Spread joy and warmth this holiday season by becoming a Secret Santa for our elderly friends. Many elders in our community have simple wishes on their Christmas lists, and your kindness can make their season brighter. Volunteers are needed to purchase and fulfill Christmas wish list gifts.

Join us in making this festive season special by selecting a wish list, purchasing the gifts, and delivering them to our designated location. Your generous act of kindness will bring smiles and happiness to those who need it most.

Lend a hand to local seniors who need help with basic yard work! Volunteers will assist with mowing, weed pulling, and light cleanup to keep lawns safe and tidy.

Make a Difference by Providing Friendly Rides!

Being lonely and isolated creates more barriers than some may know or understand – one significant barrier being transportation. Many elderly friends need a helping hand to get to essential places like the post office, bank, grocery store, or even just to pick up a favorite snack. By signing up as a Friendly Ride volunteer, you can help eliminate this barrier and make a meaningful impact on someone's life.

How It Works:

Request Process: Elderly friends call LBFE to request a ride for their needs.
Notification: Based on your availability in your volunteer profile, we'll send you an email to check if you’re available to help.
Coordination: If you’re available, LBFE will connect you with the elderly friend to coordinate pickup details.

Responsibilities:
-Provide safe and reliable transportation to elderly friends for their errands and appointments.
-Offer friendly companionship and support during the rides.
-Coordinate pickup and drop-off details directly with the elderly friend.

-Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Drive the LBFE Van 

Want to help but prefer not to use your own car? Volunteers have the option to drive our LBFE mini-van or wheelchair-accessible van to transport elders to and from events. Drivers are fully insured and covered by LBFE.
